The School of Electrical Engineering, KIIT Deemed to be University organized an Online Guest Lecture Series on “Control and Modulation Methods for Variable Frequency Drives ” on 25th  August 2020.

The Resource Person, Dr. V. S. S. Pavan Kumar Hari, Assistant Professor, Department of Energy Science and Engineering, IIT Bombay  emphasized on the basic concepts of variable frequency drives (VFD) and its different industrial applications. He also covered the effect of harmonics, different types of 3 phases AC to DC rectifiers and PWM VSI. Furthermore, he nicely highlighted the shortcomings or problems associated with conventional variable frequency variable voltage (V/f) control of motor drives.

Dr. C. K. Panigrahi, Director, SoEE extended a warm welcome to the resource person of workshop and addressed the gathering. Prof. Tapas Roy, Faculty of the School coordinated the whole sessions proactively. The vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Shubhasri Kundu, Faculty of the School. At last, he clarified the different queries related to drives and electric vehicles asked by the participants. During sessions, faculty members, B. Tech students, M. Tech. Scholars and Research Scholars of the School were present and they appreciated the speaker.
