The Electrical Engineering program offered by the Kalinga Institute Industrial Technology involves laboratory practices and for that the department has set-up various hi-tech laboratories that help students develop real-time skills and abilities.

Facilities:

Solar PV Trainer Kit with solar power meter, RTD and Plotter, PV Grid tied inverter Two module each 250W with Power Analyzer, 4 Channel PV Emulator with Table mode, simulated mode and Fixed mode., Solar Thermal Trainer Kit, 500W micro grid set up (DC/AC/Hybrid PV and Wind/Lead Acid Battery (100 Ahr) NI-cRIO 9082 (Lab-View) with DAC Modules, Lab-View based Spartan-6 FPGA board, 250W wind energy trainer kit. VFD Drive, DC/DC Converter Testing facilities, Gate driver circuit, High power density power converter (GaN and SiC) design and testing, PMSM and BLDC Motor Set up for EV.

Scope:

The Energy System Laboratory is devoted to the development and innovations of the sustainable energy systems, mainly in the field of solar and wind energy, Analyze and improve conventional energy systems, provision of scope for entrepreneurship and new start-up companies in this area. Privides knowledge of conversions, utilizations and grid integrations of different kinds of energy. Energy system Lab is collaborated with Enervision, Mumbai and National Instruments India for development and up-gradation of the laboratory according to the Cutting-edge technology.

Scope:
Development of enabling technologies to transform today’s transportation and electrical power: from generation to transmission to distribution to utilization into more secure, more sustainable, more intelligent, more reliable, and more efficient energy generation-delivery utilization systems than ever before. Power system laboratory consists of experiments related to power system protection, load flow studies, fault analysis, half wave and full wave rectifier and simulation. The laboratory contains various Power system simulator software packages such as PSCAD, MiPower, ETAP, Powerworld simulator and MATLAB are available. Laboratory has industrial collaboration with PRDC Bangalore and etc.

Scope:
Provides knowledge of basic function of  SIMATIC S7-1200 Model like Main Block Diagram, Description of the Blocks of the Main Block Diagram, Input Module, output Module, Field Modules, CPU, Control Elements, Counters, Timers, Addressing protocols, Memories, Function Blocks. Develop project applications for entrepreneurial ventures and render consultancy services to the industries for fund  generation.
