On 12th August, 2020, Tech Talk on “Application of high voltage for air pollution control” was organized by School of Electrical Engineering, KIIT DU which was a joint activity of IEEE Consumer Electronics and IEEE Industrial Electronics Society Chapters, Bhubaneswar.
At the outset, Prof. Chinmoy Kumar Panigrahi, Director, SoEE, welcomed Prof. Snakarsan Mohapatro, School of Electrical Sciences, IIT Bhubaneswar who has been invited for talk and thanked him for giving his valuable time for Tech Talk. He requested expert to have a joint research collaborations of IIT Bhubaneswar and KIIT-DU so that research scholars may contribute in the area.
Prof. Mohapatro delivered lecture on the different causes of air pollution and adverse effects on human beings. Later, he described about high voltage based non-thermal plasma treatment for diesel exhaust pollution control. He also responded to various queries raised by research scholars. He elaborated how high voltage can be generated from a 12 V battery that would be the only source of power in a vehicle so that the non-thermal plasma treatment can be facilitated.
All participants appreciated the way the speaker has delivered the content and discussed about the future scope of the research work. The program is coordinated by Dr. Srikanth Allamsetty, FIC, Tech Talk. During talk, all faculty members, IEEE students members and Research Scholars of the School were present.
