Analog and Digital Electronics Circuit Lab
The Analog and Digital Electronics Circuit Laboratory is a cornerstone of electronics education, bridging the gap between theory and practice. It equips students with essential skills in designing, constructing, and analyzing both analog and digital electronic systems. It provides hands-on experience with both analog and
digital circuits, fostering a deep understanding of electronic components, circuit design, and signal processing.
The lab covers a range of experiments on analog and digital circuits, including Oscillators like RC Phase Shift Oscillator and Astable-Multivibrator, Filters such as Active Low Pass and High Pass Filters, Logic gates and Boolean function implementation, Combinational circuits like adders and decoders and Sequential circuits including flip-flops, counters and shift registers. The experiments involve both design and implementation using ICs and basic components. Students are expected to construct circuits on breadboards, take measurements, verify truth tables, and draw timing diagrams.
Equipment | Usage | Application |
Digital Storage Oscilloscope (DSO)- 30MHz, 500 MS a/s, Model-401 | Used to observe the precise waveforms of electrical signals. They can capture and display events that are too fast for an analog oscilloscope. | Analyzing signal waveforms, debugging electronic circuits, measuring the timing and voltage characteristics of signals, and capturing transient events. |
Bread board trainer kit with power supply | Breadboards are used for prototyping and testing electronic circuits without soldering. The integrated power supply provides the necessary voltage and current to the components and circuits being tested. | Building and testing circuits, experimenting with different circuit configurations, educational purposes for learning electronics and circuit design. |
Function Generator | Function generators are used to create various types of electrical waveforms over a wide range of frequencies. Common waveforms include sine, square, and triangular waves. | Testing and troubleshooting electronic devices, simulating sensor signals, injecting signals into circuits for analysis, and educational purposes for studying signal processing. |
Integrated Circuits | ICs are used in nearly all electronic equipment today and perform various functions, such as amplification, signal processing, and logic operations. | Building complex circuits, designing microcontroller-based systems, creating digital logic circuits, and implementing analog signal processing tasks. |
Analog Oscilloscope | Analog oscilloscopes are used to display and analyze the waveform of electronic signals. Unlike DSOs, they do not have digital storage capabilities and display real-time analog signals. | Observing the change of an electrical signal over time, debugging and testing analog circuits, educational purposes for understanding waveform characteristics, and measuring frequency and amplitude of signals. |
