KIIT School of Electrical Engineering and IEEE Bhubaneswar Sub Section, KIIT-DU jointly organized the 2nd International Conference on Power Electronics and Energy (ICPEE-2023) during 3rd – 5th January 2023 with technical sponsorship of IEEE Kolkata Section and IEEE IAS Society in hybrid mode. The conference featured keynote addresses by world-renowned speakers from industry and academia on their latest research works.

Prof. Josep M. Guerrero, Professor, Aalborg University; Prof. Akshay Kumar Rathore, Singapore Institute of Technology, Singapore; Dr. Sanjeet Dwivedi, Danfoss Power Electronics A/S Denmark; Prof. B. K. Panigrahi, IIT Delhi;  Prof. Vinod Khadkikar, Khalifa University, UAE and Prof. Subhransu Ranjan Samantaray, IIT Bhubaneswar were invited as keynote speakers. Experts from OPAL-RT Technologies India Pvt. Ltd. were invited to showcase their credentials and products. During the three-day meet, as many as 47 papers were presented by authors.

The conference was inaugurated on 3rd January 2023. Speaking at the inaugural session, Prof. Bhim Singh, Senior Professor, IIT Delhi described research in the field of electric vehicles, Government policy, wireless chargers and the scope of renewable energy and power converters. Prof. Subhransu Ranjan Samantaray, IEEE Bhubaneswar Sub-section Chair, Honorary Chair, IEEE ICPEE 2023 spoke on recent developments in the field of Power Electronics and Energy. Prof. Vinod Khadkikar, Technical Program Chair, IEEE ICPEE 2023 presented his views on various recent technologies and developments in the area of power electronics.

Prof. Anu A. Gokhle shared her views on various challenges and technologies trending in the area of power electronics and artificial intelligence. Prof. Akshay Kumar Rathore, Honorary Chair, IEEE ICPEE 2023 conveyed his wishes for the success of the conference. Prof. B. K. Panigrahi, General Chair, IEEE ICPEE 2023 addressed the gathering on modern research in power electronics and energy sector. IEEE ICPEE 2023 Proceedings was also released on the occasion.

Prof. Ashok Kumar Tripathy, Advisor, IEEE Bhubaneswar Subsection discussed the scope of renewable energy and the need of energy awareness, while Shri Deepak Mathur, Director, IEEE Region 10, emphasized Industry-University collaboration. Prof. Debasish Chatterjee, Professor, Jadavpur University shared his views emphasizing hardware projects in the field of power electronics.

Earlier, in his welcome address, Prof. Chinmoy Kumar Panigrahi, General Chair, IEEE ICPEE 2023 thanked authors, keynote speakers, presenters, volunteers, and technical program committee who strived to keep the quality of papers and proposals high. He offered special thanks to the TPC Chair Prof. Vinod Khadkikar, Technical Program Chair for his tremendous effort in managing the review process of 114 conference papers; Prof. Akshay Kumar Rathore, Honorary Chair, IEEE ICPEE 2023; and Prof. B. K. Panigrahi, General Chair, IEEE ICPEE 2023. He thanked Prof. Sasmita Samanta, Vice Chancellor, KIIT Deemed to be University & Patron, IEEE ICPEE 2023 and Prof. Subhransu Ranjan Samantaray, IEEE Bhubaneswar Sub-section Chair, Honorary Chair, IEEE ICPEE 2023 for their support to this flagship event. Prof. Panigrahi also expressed gratitude to Prof. Achyuta Samanta, Founder, KIIT & KISS for his constant guidance and encouragement.

Prizes for best papers were given away at the valedictory ceremony held on 5th January 2023. Prof. B. K. Nayak, Dean, SoEE and Prof S. C. Swain, Professor, SoEE were present. The vote of thanks was proposed by Prof. Ranjeeta Patel, Organizing Chair, and Dr. R. N. Dash, Treasurer.
