Tapas Roy

Dr. Tapas Roy received the B.E. degree in electrical engineering from Jadavpur University, Kolkata, India, in 2009, and the M.E. degree in power electronics and drives from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, India, in 2013. He has completed his Ph.D. degree in novel MLI topologies at the Indian Institute of Technology, Dhanbad, India in 2023. He is currently an Assistant Professor(II) with the School of Electrical Engineering, KIIT Deemed to be University, Bhubaneswar, India. His research interests include switched capacitor multilevel inverter topologies, dc–dc converters, motor drives, and pulsewidth modulation techniques etc.

Hardware Experience

Study on Dead Time Effect and its Compensation for Bus Clamping PWM technique : a two-level MOSFET based three-phase VSI is designed and developed on printed circuit board (PCB) for this study. The control pulses are generated by DSP processor. 2012

Development of 7 level 3 phase switched capacitor based Multilevel inverter: The hardware prototype has been developed using MOSFET switches. The control pulses have been generated by ATmega 328 microcontroller. 2016

Development of 7-level 1 phase two step boost ability switched capacitor multilevel inverter: A laboratory prototype has been designed and developed. High frequency Inductors have been designed and built at the lab. The control pulses have been generated by ATmega 328 microcontroller. 2017

Development of 21-level 1 phase switched capacitor Multilevel Inverter: A 21 level MOSFET based SCMLI has been developed and tested at laboratory. The control pulses have been generated by Dspace 1104. 2018

Development of 13 level single phase SCMLIs, Development of 7 level high boost SCMLI: MOSFET based 7 level and 13 level SCMLIs have been developed and test in the laboratory. These topologies have been published in IEEE Transactions. The control pulses have been generated by Dspace 1104 as well as ATmega 328 microcontroller. 2020-21

Hardware Experience

Study on Dead Time Effect and its Compensation for Bus Clamping PWM technique : a two-level MOSFET based three-phase VSI is designed and developed on printed circuit board (PCB) for this study. The control pulses are generated by DSP processor. 2012

Development of 7 level 3 phase switched capacitor based Multilevel inverter: The hardware prototype has been developed using MOSFET switches. The control pulses have been generated by ATmega 328 microcontroller. 2016

Development of 7-level 1 phase two step boost ability switched capacitor multilevel inverter: A laboratory prototype has been designed and developed. High frequency Inductors have been designed and built at the lab. The control pulses have been generated by ATmega 328 microcontroller. 2017

Development of 21-level 1 phase switched capacitor Multilevel Inverter: A 21 level MOSFET based SCMLI has been developed and tested at laboratory. The control pulses have been generated by Dspace 1104. 2018

Development of 13 level single phase SCMLIs, Development of 7 level high boost SCMLI: MOSFET based 7 level and 13 level SCMLIs have been developed and test in the laboratory. These topologies have been published in IEEE Transactions. The control pulses have been generated by Dspace 1104 as well as ATmega 328 microcontroller. 2020-21
